Frequently Asked Questions
Plain answers to the questions businesses ask before they commit: what it costs, how long it takes, who owns the result and what happens after launch.
Getting started
We build four kinds of thing, and they fit together:
- Websites and online stores — company sites that bring in enquiries, and stores that sell products online.
- Business apps — phone and tablet apps for inspections, approvals, stock and tracking, replacing paper forms.
- Automation — the repetitive copying, chasing and data entry between the systems you already use.
- Reports and dashboards — one clear view of sales, stock, operations and finances.
Most businesses start with one of these and add the others once it is working.
Tell us what you are trying to fix rather than what you want built. A description of the manual process, or a copy of the spreadsheet or form you want to replace, is enough to begin. We look at it, suggest a starting point, and agree exactly what is included.
Only then do we quote. Every project is priced individually against that agreed scope, so you know what you are getting before you commit. We can also walk you through working examples privately — public case studies are still being assembled.
Unsure which service you need? That is normal. The services page explains each one, and the quote form takes a plain-English brief.
It depends on scope, which is why we start by mapping the process instead of jumping into a build. A typical app goes from paper forms to a working tool in weeks rather than months.
Every project follows the same four steps: work out what you need, design it, build it, then test it with your real data before launch.
Websites and online stores
The choice follows what the site has to do, not what we happen to prefer.
- A handcrafted site when speed and a precise design matter most.
- WordPress when your team will be publishing new pages and blog posts weekly.
- A custom web tool when customers need to log in, get an instant quote or book an appointment.
- Shopify when you are selling products online.
If you ask for the wrong one for the job, we will tell you and say why.
Yes. Pages are built so non-technical staff can change text, photos, products and blog posts without a developer and without breaking the design.
Training, written instructions and a recorded video walkthrough come with the site, so your team can keep it current from day one. We also build the search-engine basics in from the start — clean pages, correct titles and social cards — though nobody can honestly promise you a Google ranking.
That is the point of it. Orders flow through without anyone re-typing them: stock levels stay in sync, customers receive their order confirmation and shipping updates automatically, and a completed sale turns into an invoice in your accounting system without a second entry.
The usual payment set-ups we configure are Shopify Payments, Stripe and Apple Pay. The card fees themselves are set by the payment provider, not by us.
We set them up, and you keep them. Domain, hosting, business email and security certificates are configured during the build, and every account stays in your name — so the site is never held hostage by an agency login.
Automatic daily backups are part of the set-up. An optional monthly care plan covers updates and routine checks for teams who would rather not think about it at all.
Business apps
This is the request we get most often. A single spreadsheet that everyone edits at once turns into an app where each person sees only what they need, entries are checked as they are typed, and nobody can accidentally delete rows someone else is using.
An export back to Excel stays available for whenever someone wants it.
No. Apps sit inside the Microsoft 365 you already have, so staff sign in with the work account they already use. There are no extra passwords to remember and no separate account list to maintain.
Your data lives in your own Microsoft account, not on a server we control.
Yes — and working out in the field is designed for from the start: checklists and audits completed on a phone, photos stamped with the date and location, signatures for handovers and sign-offs, and barcode or QR scanning using the phone camera instead of a separate scanner.
Whatever is captured saves as soon as it is submitted, so the office sees it straight away.
Automation
The repetitive copying and chasing that your most valuable people currently do by hand:
- Orders, invoices and leads moving between your systems on their own.
- Reading line items, totals and GST off supplier invoices and delivery paperwork.
- A Teams or text alert for a high-value lead, an overdue quote or an expiring contract.
- Approvals that chase the approver and keep a record of every decision.
- Scheduled reports that arrive by email so nobody has to assemble them.
Where a piece of software has no ready-made connection, we build one. And where AI reads a document, it writes a draft for a person to approve rather than posting final entries itself.
Often not. Most apps, automations and standard reports run on the Microsoft 365 Business licences you already hold.
Three things can need more: connecting straight into a database, linking to certain third-party software, and Power BI reports that people view or publish. If your project needs any of them, we say so while scoping it and give you the exact count — never after the build is live.
Reports and dashboards
From the systems you already use — your accounting software, point of sale, online store, spreadsheets or databases. We pull them into one place and tidy them up so the same figure means the same thing everywhere, rather than pasting reports side by side.
The dashboard refreshes on a schedule, usually overnight, so the numbers are current when you open it rather than weeks out of date.
No — that is the normal starting point, and it is the first thing we do. We sit down with your leadership team, work out the handful of figures that genuinely drive profit and operational health, and agree what each one means before drawing any charts. A dashboard full of numbers nobody owns is an expensive mistake.
Directors can read the reports on a phone, and access can be set so managers see only their own department while the full picture stays with leadership.
Ownership, security and support
You do. Website code belongs to your business and sits on hosting and domain accounts in your name. Apps, automations and data are built inside your own Microsoft 365 account, so they stay in your environment under your control.
Everything is documented and built in modular pieces. The test we hold ourselves to is whether a competent person on your team could run it without us. You can take that documentation to another provider, or bring us back for the next change.
Access runs through your existing Microsoft accounts with separate permission levels — admin, manager, contributor, read-only — so people only see what they should. Data stays inside your own Microsoft account and your organisation's controls.
Websites run over encrypted connections with secure deployment, and integrations are authenticated properly rather than through a shared password. See our privacy policy for how this website handles personal information.
Training is part of delivery, not something sold on top: a personal handover walkthrough, staff training sessions, recorded videos and written documentation your team can reuse for future onboarding.
Automation work carries a support warranty period after launch. If an automated job ever breaks, you are alerted at the time rather than finding a gap in your accounts a month later. Beyond the warranty, care plans, monitoring and further changes are all optional.
